Russians Yield Ground In Crimea But Dispute Hitlers Claim Victory

Russia declared her armies are storming the gates of Kharkov, the "Pitts-; burgh of the Ukraine, and other Soviet offensives are; reported rolling against the Germans in vital sectors; at Leningrad, Novgorod, Starava and Moscow. In the Crimea the Russians acknowledged yielding some ground in the 6-day battle of Kerch Peninsula, but disputed the Hitler command claim of a decisive victory. Latest Soviet reports said the Russians are now holding the new line in good order and are inflicting heavy casualties on the Germans. The Soviet radio reported that Marshal Timoshenkos Ukraine armies smashed the German first line defenses before Kharkov and are advancing on the city itself, mmediately threatening the Nazi stronghold.
